1. In this way, when the vehicle turns to travel, because the outer wheel moves a larger distance than the inner wheel, the outer wheel will slip while rolling, while the inner wheel will slip while rolling. Even if the vehicle runs in a straight line, it will cause wheel sliding due to uneven road surface or unequal tire rolling radius (tire manufacturing error, different wear, uneven load or unequal air pressure), which will not only aggravate tire wear, increase power and fuel consumption, but also make the vehicle difficult to turn and poor braking performance. In order to prevent the wheel from sliding as much as possible, the structure must ensure that each wheel can rotate at different angles.
2. When the vehicle goes straight, the resistance of the left and right wheels is equal. The planetary gears in the differential housing only revolve with the housing rather than rotate.
3. When the vehicle turns, the inner wheel will produce greater resistance. Different forces on the half shafts on both sides will make the middle planetary gear rotate, and there will be speed difference between the half shafts on both sides. The outside wheel turns faster than the inside wheel, so that the vehicle can turn smoothly.

 

Composition structure of differential assembly

1.The automobile differential assembly can make the left and right (or front and rear) drive wheels rotate at different speeds. It is mainly composed of left and right half shaft gears, two planetary gears and gear carrier. Ordinary differential assembly is composed of planetary gear, planetary carrier (differential housing), half shaft gear and other parts.
2. The power of the engine enters the differential mechanism through the transmission shaft, directly drives the planetary gear carrier, and then the planetary gear drives the left and right half shafts to drive the left and right wheels respectively.
