Working Principle
Working principle of basin Angle teeth:
The single-stage reducer is an active vertebral gear (commonly known as Angle teeth), and a from the basin Angle teeth, the active vertebral gear connected to the drive shaft, clockwise rotation, from the basin Angle teeth attached to its right side, the point of engagement rotates downward, in the same direction as the wheel forward. Because the diameter of the driving bevel gear is small, the diameter of the basin Angle tooth is large, so as to achieve the function of deceleration.
The double-stage reducer has an intermediate transition gear, the left side of the active vertebral gear meshes with the umbrella tooth part of the intermediate gear, and the basin Angle gear has a small diameter spur gear coaxial, which meshes with the driven gear. So the intermediate gear turns backward and the driven gear turns forward. There are two stages of deceleration in between.
Because of the increase of axle volume, two-stage deceleration is mainly used in the past in the matching of vehicles with low engine power, mainly used in the construction machinery of low speed and high torque.
In the two-stage main reducer, if the second stage of reduction is carried out near the wheel, in fact, it constitutes an independent part at the two wheels, it is called the wheel edge reducer. The advantage of this method is that the torque transmitted by the shaft can be reduced, which is conducive to reducing the size and mass of the shaft. The rim reducer can be planetary gear type or composed of a pair of cylindrical gears. When the cylindrical gear pair is used to reduce the edge of the wheel, it can change the upper and lower position relationship between the wheel axis and the axle by adjusting the mutual position of the two gears. This kind of axle is called portal axle, which is often used for cars with special requirements on the high and low position of axle.

The domestic automobile basically adopts the single speed main reducer with fixed transmission ratio. In the two-speed main reducer, there are two transmission ratios for choice, and this main reducer actually plays the role of auxiliary transmission.
